Ignimbrite is a rock formed by deposition from pyroclastic flows in a hot, swiftly moving, turbulent gaseous mixture of pumice, ash, and other fragments erupted from a volcanic event. The term ignimbrite is derived from "fiery rock dust cloud" (from the Latin igni- (fire) and imbri- (rain).
Ignimbrite Si14 is mined in Montana from an ancient and pure deposit of silicon rich, non-crystalline volcanic ash with a highly porous nature.
Ignimbrite Si14’s rich amorphous content contains over 76% SiO2 and provides a natural source of plant available silicon that reacts dynamically with other minerals and nutrients to address critical soil and plant deficiencies.
Blending Ignimbrite Si14 with existing products increases your customer’s ROI. OMRI Listed.

KNOW YOUR SOURCE
Volcanic
ash
While the element silicon comprises 27% of the earth’s crust, most soils have limited supplies of silicon in it's plant available form, silicic acid.
Volcanic ash is one of the only sources of silicic acid that is naturally deposited into soils. Ignimbrite is wholly derived from an ancient deposit of a very pure source of volcanic ash.
UNDER THE MICROSCOPE
Ignimbrite Si is soft and highly porous, it weathers easily and provides immediate and gradual release of silicic acid plus additional benefits including:
-
High cation exchange capacity
-
Conditions and improves soil texture
-
No shelf life limitations and doesn't polymerize
-
Chemical free, will not burn plants
-
Moderate pH acts as a buffer allowing regular application
-
Moisture holding capacity through absorption and adsorption
-
3.5 on the MOHS hardness scale allows for easy break down with weathering
-
Adjuvant that reduces nitrogen volatility and improves phosphorus availability
POZZOLANIC QUALITIES
The image below is a microscopic photo of Ignimbrite.
GRANULATION AID
Ignimbrite has a pozzolanic quality that when mixed with water exhibits cementitious properties that make it an excellent granulation aid for NPK fertilizers and other hard to granulate inputs.
-
Suggested inclusion rate of 5% to 20% depending on crop and granule ingredients
-
Devolatilizes, deodorizes, and dries manures while preventing runoff pollution
-
Reduces use of binding agent
-
Energy Efficient Fertilizer input
-
Safe to handle
